Pongwe Beach Hotel has in my opinion one of the most beautiful beaches on Zanzibar Island. It is a very relaxed lodge which is entirely unpretentious. Its rooms are simple, as is its restaurant and general area. The charm of the place is in its general 'chilled out' atmosphere. This isn't the place for those looking for a large, luxurious beach resort complete with spa, numerous restaurants and dive centre. But for those wanting to totally relax in a hammock or by the small pool in a relaxed environment with excellent understated service, then Pongwe is the place for you. It is also extremely reasonably priced which is an added bonus. I would highly recommend a stay at Pongwe Beach if you can find it available!

Situated on one of the most beautiful coastlines in the world, the Pongwe Beach Hotel is a true paradise retreat, set within a secluded bay on the east coast of Zanzibar. Pongwe is a modestly sized hotel, with sixteen traditional beach-side cottages, and an intimate atmosphere. The hotel is situated on a beach which offers the perfect paradise island experience. The bay's clear blue waters — protected by the reef one kilometre from the shore — are ideal for swimming and snorkeling.

Location

Situated on the north east of Zanzibar Island the hotel is approximately an hour's drive from Stonetown and Zanzibar Airport.

Accommodation

Pongwe Beach Hotel offers 16 beachfront Zanzibarian cottages. All cottages have en suite bathrooms, with Moroccan style walk in showers. Each cottage also has its own private terrace where you may enjoy the sunrise and a leisurely breakfast. 3 of the rooms are garden rooms at the back of the property and the other 13 are beach front cottages.

Really loved it here and If we were back again we woud have stayed longer here and less time in mauritius beautiful safari and really nice people
