Six Senses Punakha

Six Senses Punakha lodge has a rustic feel, inspired by the fertile farmland and traditional farmhouses that surround it. Rooms are clad in local timber, creating calming, zen-like interiors. A large crescent-shaped infinity pool and the cantilevered lounge cum bar area that juts out over it provide the lodge’s focal point. Healthy meals, wholesome activities, and a sublime spa round out this most idyllic lodge.

Six Senses Punakha lodge is a highly sophisticated, yet wonderfully down to earth place to stay. The neutral coloured suites and villas are simple, ski chalet-esque in design and packed with all mod cons, with exceptionally comfortable mattresses. Bathrooms are huge with twin vanities and gorgeous views out to rolling green hills. All rooms from the Lodge Suites to the Three-Bedroom villa feature expansive indoor and outdoor space. A key feature of the lodge is the swimming pool. Punakha is one of the warmest places in Bhutan so a dip might just be on the cards. Above the pool is the architecturally brilliant cantilevered lounge, which juts out like a diving board and affords superb views across the valley. This a great spot to sit with a drink and a book, or to gaze at the views. Dining at Six Senses places emphasis on fresh, organic produce and locally sourced items. The menu is pan-Asian mostly, with a few western favourites. The spa draws on Bhutan’s ancient wellness traditions, such as Ayurveda, and provides a full range of treatments. For anyone wanting to work up a sweat there is a gym, again with views to die for.
