Safari and romance go hand-in-hand and it's the perfect experience to celebrate honeymoons, anniversaries, birthdays or just to reconnect and enjoy quality time together. Harry and Meghan fell in love in Botswana, William and Kate got engaged in Kenya -who knows what memories are in store for you and your loved one in Africa?

When planning the ultimate romantic African adventure for two, these are some of our top things to consider including;
A room with a private pool
After a morning spent watching the sunrise followed by wildlife encounters on a game drive, heading back to your lodge to spend some quality down-time together is one of the most unique and enjoyable experiences on safari. One of our top accommodation features we recommend for an extra special, romantic adventure is a room with its own private pool. Better yet, a pool with a view. Some of our favorite safari lodges which feature private plunge pools are Chitwa Chitwa Private Game Lodge, Tengile River Lodge in the Sabi Sands and Phinda Game Reserve in KwaZulu Natal. Be warned, you may have a visitor or two poking their noses (or should we say trunks) into your private pools. Elephants have been known to come right up to pools to drink. Theyve never heard that ‘threes a crowd!
Honeymoon suites
Safari is the perfect way to celebrate beginning your new married life together. With the combination of luxury camps, roaming wildlife and remote wilderness, most honeymooners will find themselves overwhelmed by the vast and varied beauty that Africa has to offer. Many safari destinations boast amazing game viewing opportunities but we believe honeymooners should take their accommodation to the next level of luxury, to ensure their time away from the game drives is as memorable. A honeymoon suite is the perfect room choice when it comes to adding that special newly-wed touch to your safari. Some of our favourite honeymoon suites are found in Elsas Kopje in Kenya, Thanda Tented Camp in South Africa and Stanley Safari Lodge in Zambia.
Bush dinners and sundowners
Watching a herd of elephants cool down in a watering hole while you enjoy a champagne dinner together. Sipping on a gin and tonic, gazing out onto the plains, you spot a 'dazzle' of Zebra pass by as the sun sets. This may sound like a dream, but we can make it a reality. Being in the luxury African safari business for almost 20 years means we have close relationships with our suppliers and are happy to organise unique experiences like these on your behalf. Some of our favourite bush dinner experiences are at Ol Seki and Kichwa Tembo in Kenya and Chikwenya in Zimbabwe (weather permitting of course).
Unique Experiences
One of our favourite safari experiences with a romantic twist is a hot air balloon safari. Drifting into the sky, hand in hand, looking down on the wild plains. An aerial safari is a truly unique experience that will stay in your heart forever. From our experience, Kenya and Tanzania's Hot Air Balloon safaris are truly exceptional. Governors Camp offers a hot air balloon safari and authentic, luxury tented accommodation with fantastic game viewing once you float back down to the ground.
Spa Treatments
One romantic add-on that defines ultimate luxury safari is a private spa experience. Unwind after a morning game drive with a massage or enjoy some time together in side-by-side bush baths while sipping on champagne. Some of our top choices for spa experiences on safari are Cottars 1920s Camp in Kenya, Singita Sasakwa in Tanzania and Chiefs Camp in Botswana.
Extending the journey
Safari alone is an amazing experience, but we would always recommend combining your safari with another destination. If you wish to stay on the African continent, Kenya Coast, Mozambique and Cape Winelands offer terrific post safari relaxation opportunities. If it is white sand, turquoise waters and 5* service you have in mind, why not fly to an Indian Ocean beach destination such as the Seychelles, Mauritius or Zanzibar. Whichever you choose, they are all fabulous options for you and your loved one to extend your safari tour for two. Our travel experts are always happy to discuss with you which destination is the best choice to ensure you get idyllic beach weather for the time of year you are travelling and the least travel time from your safari location.
