DumaTau Camp

DumaTau means 'roar of the lion' yet it is its massive elephant concentrations and outstanding wildlife in general for which it is renowned. It is situated close to the source of the Savute Channel on one of the many lagoons within the Linyanti Swamp system, which makes game drives along the Savute one of the highlights of a stay here. The camp lies under a shady grove of mangosteen trees, raised off the ground to overlook a large hippo-filled lagoon.

DumaTau Camp is undergoing an upgrade to take the camp to the next level of luxury. Reopening in August 2020, the improved camp will offer 8 tents in total, including one family unit. All the tents will have en-suite bathroom facilities, an outside shower and a private plunge pool. Each tent will have views over the floodplains and lagoon and more views are available from the expansive decks of the communal areas, as well as the decked pool area. The solar-powered camp will also feature a wellness centre and gym, shared with it's new sister camp, Little DumaTau. Both camps will offer a Star Bed sleep out experience for adventurous guests wishing to sleep under the stars.

Little DumaTau will make an appearance in August as well, just north of DumaTau. It will offer the same vast views of the lagoon but in a more exclusive setting, with only 4 tents available. While Little DumaTau does share amenities with DumaTau, the camp will also have a snack deli and a trading store.

Both camps will give guests the chance to learn about the concession's elephant conservation project and biomonitoring project.
