Tau Pan Camp is the first semi-permanent camp to be situated inside the world famous Central Kalahari Game Reserve right on the edge of the beautiful Tau Pan, commanding stunning views of the permanent Tau Pan water hole and the endless Kalahari horizon. December to April is when this region comes into its own with a plethora of plains game and predators, including Kalahari black-maned lion, and there are usually very few others to share the scene with. The bird life is also enormously varied.
Guests at Tau Pan are accommodated in 9 airy and spacious custom-built desert chalets, with impressive views through the full length gauze screens, while the main area consists of dining room, lounge area and a viewing deck.
The crescent shaped main area has expansive views and encompasses the communal dining and bar areas, leading in turn to the fire pit, viewing deck and plunge pool.
A 50 minute flight from Maun followed by a short 5km drive from the airstrip to the Tau Pan Camp.
Game drives, day trips to the well-known Deception Valley, Sunday, Piper and Passarge Pans, star gazing, bush brunches on Tau Pan, and nature walks with Bushman trackers.

An amazing amount of wildlife in a very dry environment. Wonderful, helpful staff. An expert birder as a guide. How the cooks manage to produce such great meals way out in the desert is a miracle. I especially enjoyed the bushman walk led by our trecker, Kastrom.
