Xaranna Okavango Tented Camp

Explore Botswana

andBeyond Xaranna Tented Camp is situated in its own 25 000 hectare (62 000 acre) wildlife concession on the edge of the permanent Okavango Delta. The area is home to a
large number of species, including the elegant red lechwe and shy sitatunga. Whist supporting the continent's largest surviving concentration of elephant and buffalo, lion prides, cheetah, leopard and African wild dog are encountered, while families of hippo hide in the deeper channels and lagoons.

The camp hosts 9 sleek ensuite safari tents with breath taking views over the channel. Each tented suite also boasts a romantic sala and a private plunge pool. The guest areas, all positioned carefully to maximise the sweeping views out across the channels, include a spacious reading area, dining area and fully stocked Safari Shop.

Accommodation fabulous, staff, food and facilities fabulous. Wildlife limited. Our guide not the best. I think he would not be able to track his own 'shadow'....which was a shame for a 5 star lodge. Xaranna is a water activity based lodge, and for those activities it was very enjoyable. For us Xaranna was perfect to be between Chobe under Canvass and Sandibe.

Tranquil spot. A good contrast to Jacks and Sandibe, being totally water based and fun to get to. Less wildlife on offer- although we chose to only do the water based trips. Gliding through the reeds in a Mokoro was good for the soul, as were the views of sunrise across the delta. 'Rooms' are tents in wooden platforms sleeping 2 each. Each had a mini unheated pool overlooking the delta- kids loved those- I dipped toes only. Staff are very friendly and have beautiful voices- the choir comes out often! Kids were entertained with card games, Jenga and watching the monkeys raiding the communal areas for food.

Very dated. Wholes in the mosquito net around the bed. stains in the carpets. Furniture broken. Ice machine and freezer broken, so no ice. It would appear that management is too inexperienced..
