Xigera Camp (pronounced Keejera) provides the feeling of living in the midst of a riverine forest. On an island in the Moremi Game Reserve (Okavango Delta), Xigera is set in what is truly a wetland paradise, surrounded as it is by deep channels and lush riverine vegetation. The area hosts an abundance of wildlife including red lechwe, lion, spotted hyena, leopard and the highest density of the rare sitatunga antelope in the Delta.
Xigera offers 10 luxuriously appointed tented rooms including an outdoor shower. Each of the rooms is raised on wooden platforms and walkways and offers superb views of the seasonal floodplain and lagoon.
Meals are enjoyed in the lounge, pub and dining area overlooking a permanently flowing channel or under the stars in a traditional African boma. For those hot days there is a small plunge pool in which to cool off.
How to get to Xigera Camp
Xigera is an approximately 30 minute flight from Maun and 1 hr 25 flight to Kasane. The camp is a 10 minute drive from the airstrip.
Activities at Xigera Camp
Whilst the emphasis at Xigera is on water activities (mokoro canoes and motor boat, depending on water levels), game drives are offered all year round.
