A treasure trove of interior and architectural delights, Al Moudira is a boutique hotel straight out of a storybook. It resembles an oriental palace with its courtyards, Moorish archways, domed ceilings, pharaonic murals, and antique furniture. Set on the west bank of the Nile, Al Moudira is off-the-beaten-track, removed from the bustle of the city, yet proximate to the site of ancient Thebes and the Valley of the Kings and Queens.

An oasis within the desert, Al Moudira is surrounded by lush gardens and fountains. The 54 suites, apartments and villas are grouped around a series of private courtyards. The rooms are tastefully decorated with their own unique Arab theme or period, including pharaonic designs. They are all spacious with high domed ceilings and feature hand-painted frescoes, antique furnishings, and the finest Egyptian cotton. Some feature sunken tubs reminiscent of a Turkish bath. The 20-metre pool allows for a cool refreshing dip on hot afternoons whilst enjoying a light lunch with drinks around the pavilion. The produce at Al Moudira Hotel is fresh, organic, and local. The menu showcases a blend of Lebanese, Egyptian and European influences. After a busy day seeing Luxor’s sights head to the spa for a traditional bathing ritual, perfect for recharging those batteries.
