Dubai is fast becoming one of the golf holiday destinations in the world and is home to prestigious events such as the Dubai Desert Classic as well as the European Tours Race to Dubai PGA. It is home to world class golf courses and provides some of the most spectacular backdrops for golfing. Whether a seasoned pro or beginner Dubai offers the right golfing mix for everyone.
With a fantastic climate, tax free shopping and the ultimate in luxury hotels, golf holidays in Dubai can include games on stunning news courses developed by the likes of Nick Faldo, Colin Montgomerie and Trent Jones.
The Montgomerie course has evolved into one of the Middle East's most desirable courses to play. The course covers some 265 acres and with 14 lakes and 81 bunkers, it is designed to test all golfing abilities. There are some wonderful holes, from the thirteenth par-3 over water with 360 degree teeing area to arguably the largest green in the world, or even the par-5 eighteenth hole where you need to cross water hazards twice off a back tee that can measure 656 Yards.
The Faldo course is the second championship course at the Emirates and was originally opened in 1996 but was remodelled and renamed by Nick Faldo in 2006. Faldo's trademark tees and bunkers have combined with the natural rugged terrain to create a unique golfing experience. The course is long but there are some great rewards for those who make it around.
There are many other golf courses one can avail of and with luxurious club houses and courses designed to test each skill level, Dubai is a truly unique golfing destination. One can spend a week here and play a variety of different courses, whilst sampling the local nightlife and also taking in a few other memorable Dubai experiences.
