In order to conform with Mauritius legal requirements, there are certain aspects that need to be adhered to, depending on your nationality. Mahlatini Luxury Travel, as your specialist tour operator, will advise full details, but in summary UK passport holders will need to do the following. A minimum of two months before travelling, the hotel will need to have received 2 copies of each of the following: valid passports; birth certificates that have been reissued and dated within 3 months of your wedding date; decree absolute (if divorced); proof of change of name (if applicable); plus death certificate and previous marriage certificate if widowed. All non-English documents will need to be translated into English and officially stamped.
Once in Mauritius, couples must plan a free day for visiting offices in the capital, Port Louis, for completion of all the necessary documentation. All original documentation and paperwork must be taken by the couple to Mauritius and made available at the relevant offices. Wedding couples holding non-UK birth certificates should contact their own Embassy for advice on obtaining a new copy. A wedding in Mauritius will be legal and recognised by UK law. The minimum age is 18 years. Nearly all nationalities may have a legal wedding in Mauritius.
Three unique wedding packaages are offered - Emerald, Sapphire and Diamond - all bookable in advance through your specialist tour operator and each including an array of benefits from bouquets, buttonholes and hairstyling to wedding cakes, romantic dinners and Champagne breakfasts. There's an extensive choice of extra services to make for an even more memorable experience - from live music and sunset cruises to horse riding and even fireworks.
