Heritage Madurai

Heritage Madurai is a beautiful 72-room hotel that began its life as the original Madurai Club. Transformed into a hotel by the Sri Lankan architect Geoffrey Bawa, it sits in 17 acres of landscaped gardens and retains many of its original features. As the premier hotel in this temple town, its architectural style reflects influences from the grand Chettinad mansions and the impressive local temples. With elegantly designed rooms, a spectacular swimming pool, and this is the an excellent base for exploring the rich heritage of Madurai.

The rooms and suites embrace the theme of indoor-outdoor living, with the Deluxe Club rooms featuring spacious verandas and the Luxury Plunge Pool Villas offering private enclosed gardens with pools. Each room features whitewashed walls and terracotta flooring, complemented by period furnishings. Black-and-white photographs adorn the walls, highlighting the building's rich history. The Banyan Restaurant serves exquisite contemporary Indian and international cuisine, while the ‘Swig & Tee’ bar reflects the club culture of British Madurai. The spectacular swimming pool, inspired by the temple tank at Thirumalai Temple, provides a refreshing escape, and a well-equipped gym is available for fitness enthusiasts.
