Svatma is a boutique heritage hotel brimming with character and charm, tucked away in a tranquil yet centrally located part of Thanjavur (Tanjore). Surrounded by lush gardens, the property has been beautifully restored, drawing inspiration from the city's rich history and culture. It seamlessly blends traditional heritage with modern elegance. Throughout the hotel, you'll find captivating murals of classical dancers, intricate architectural sketches of Chola-era monuments, and Tamil art, thoughtfully paired with black-and-white photographs that reflect the timeless beauty of the region.

The 38 rooms and suites at Svatma are each uniquely designed, drawing inspiration from the subtle elegance of traditional Tamil style. With cream-coloured walls, polished wooden floorboards, and exposed wooden beams and pillars, the décor exudes a refined simplicity. Most of the rooms are located in a newer building, thoughtfully constructed using traditional Tamil architectural techniques and materials. However, seven rooms, each with private verandas, are situated in a meticulously restored century-old heritage building, which once served as a family residence. All rooms are spacious, feature ensuite bathrooms, and come equipped with modern amenities for a comfortable stay. Meals at Svatma are entirely vegetarian, with an emphasis on creative and delicious Tamilian fare. The property also boasts beautifully landscaped gardens, inviting outdoor spaces for relaxation, a spa offering both Western and Ayurvedic treatments, and a generously sized swimming pool for refreshing dips.
