Colonel's Retreat

Originally a much-loved family home, Colonel’s Retreat has been converted into a 16-bedroom guesthouse. It is located in the upscale Defence Colony area of South Delhi and is simple, yet comfortable. Its suburban but within easy striking distance to all that the city has to offer. It offers a home-from-home feel, with complimentary afternoon tea, serving an array of Indian teas, coffees, and their homemade banana bread.

All unique in size, shape and design the 16 rooms are either doubles or twins. Bright and airy, they are all decorated with Indian art, colourful textures, and local photographs. It is a little higgledy-piggledy but that’s its charm, with each floor featuring a large sitting area, stocked with books and magazines. At the very top is a roof terrace, the perfect spot for some tea and cake and a bit of reprieve from the chaos of the city. On request, dinner can also be served on the rooftop under the stars, however, most guests head to Defence Colony Market which is a 5-minute walk and is teeming with excellent restaurants, bars and cafes.
