Umaid Bhawan Palace

Rising above Jodhpur’s desert landscape, Umaid Bhawan Palace is India’s last great palace and one of the world’s largest private residences. Named after Maharaja Umaid Singh, grandfather of the current Maharaja, this golden-yellow sandstone masterpiece spans 26 acres. Completed in 1943 after 15 years of construction, it still serves as the main residence of the Jodhpur royal family, with a private wing for the current Maharaja. The palace seamlessly blends eastern and western influences, showcasing traditional Rajput exteriors and Art Deco interiors.

The rooms and suites at Umaid Bhawan Palace are spacious and luxurious, ranging from the elegant Art Deco Palace Rooms to the opulent top suites. Historical Suites, which feature terraces with beautiful garden views, are a top recommendation. Dining options include Risala, a grand banquet hall adorned with plush carpets and draped curtains, or at the more casual Pillars, set on a romantic colonnaded veranda—perfect for enjoying sunset views of Mehrangarh Fort. The hotel’s excellent facilities include tennis and squash courts, a gym, table tennis, and indoor and outdoor swimming pools.
