Guestfarm Ghaub
Situated in the Otavi Mountain region, which is the agricultural heartland of Namibia's north, is Guestfarm Ghaub, a picturesque and peaceful stopover on the way to Etosha National Park or further north to Rundu and the Zambezi Region. The farm is an idyllic oasis in the rugged Otavi mountains with tall palm trees, thick bush and a lush lawn all surrounding the beautifully restored historic buildings of the Ghaub Lodge. The area around it is a 120 km² game-rich nature reserve with extraordinary rock engravings, a limestone cave as well as a farm with cattle and maize fields.
The lodge's building was originally erected as a mission station in 1895 and converted to a guest farm in 1999. The historic character of the building has been maintained and is complimented by stunning mountain views. Ghaub offers 10 large rooms with large French doors, wooden and cane furniture, old- style wall pictures and a private porch with views. In each room guests will find an en-suite bathroom, ceiling fan, tea/coffee station, dressing table and wardrobe.
The homely and functional central areas provide a cozy lounge/bar area and a dining area offering fresh home cooking. With a canopy of palm and acacia trees, the swimming pool is beautifully shaded and offers views of the Otavi Mountains from the sun loungers. For a bit of wildlife viewing, guests can head to the waterhole some 80m away and watch animals come to the waterhole to drink.
