This short fly-in itinerary involves stops at 3 of Namibia's most iconic regions, the famous red dunes of Sossusvlei; the untamed and ruggedly beautiful Damaraland, known for its desert-adapted species and the safari heaven that is Etosha.
Your time in Namibia will begin in its capital city Windhoek, a unique urban African city with traces of its German colonial past in much of its architecture. Should you have the time to spare we recommend that you explore the many interesting sights and the city's European café culture where German cuisine dominates.
After a night in Windhoek you will be returned to the airport to catch a light aircraft flight to Sossusvlei and specifically to Little Kulala camp, a luxurious desert retreat situated in the private 27 000 hectare Kulala Wilderness Reserve, a gateway to the famous Sossusvlei and its surrounding red dunes. These you can explore on guided tours which will also include other fascinating geographical formations in the region such as Sesriem Canyon. Within the Kulala Wilderness Reserve you can partake in nature drives, walking trails, guided quad biking, sundowner tours and scorpion night walks. The Namib Desert has some of the world's clearest skies so stargazing is a popular activity here. You can even opt to sleep out under the starry skies on the roof of your room!
Following your stay at Little Kulala you head to the nearby airstrip to catch a light aircraft flight to Damaraland Camp, located in one of the most beautiful wilderness areas in Namibia with sensational views of the surrounding desert plains, ancient valleys and distant Brandberg Mountains. The camp is an inspirational community partnership situated in the Torra Conservancy meaning that it is owned and largely run by the local community. Game drives within the conservancy reveal the dramatic scenery and fascinating wildlife including desert-adapted elephant, which are a highlight in the area (although a seasonal one). During your stay, you can learn about the unique heritage of the local people which include Nama-Damara, Herero and Owambo. This activity allows you to respectfully engage with these communities. On guided nature walks you can learn about the ancient geological past and present of Damaraland as well as about the unique plants, reptiles and birds that have adapted to this arid area.
The final leg of your journey is at Ongava Tented Camp located in the private Ongava Game Reserve, bordering the Etosha National Park. This private reserve is one of the finest game areas in the country where its guests can experience both the reserve and neighbouring Etosha National Park in open game drive vehicles with expert guides. Wildlife is numerous including elephant, lion, giraffe, black and white rhino and several antelope species. In addition to the day and night game drives you can also go rhino tracking on foot in the company of a trained guide, partake in nature walks around the camp or sit in photographic hides waiting on the wildlife to come to you. During your 'down' time you can lounge by the pool or simply enjoy the views of a prolific waterhole from your walk-in tent.
You will end this once-in-a-lifetime trip with a flight back to Windhoek Airport for your international flight home.
