With this itinerary you will get a chance to take in the very best that Uganda has to offer from, mountain gorillas in Bwindi Forest, to tree-climbing lions in Queen Elizabeth National Park. We have also been careful to select some of our favourite properties in Uganda, so whilst you may be taking in some of Africa's finest wilderness, your journey will be extremely comfortable throughout. Finally to make this experience as rich as possible you will also be accompanied by your own personal driver/ guide for the duration of your time in Uganda.
To break up the journey to the gorillas in Bwindi, you will have a stop-over at Mihingo Lodge with a magical setting of vast savannah, adjacent to Lake Mburo National Park. You won't necessarily have the time to fully explore the park, however, you will have the time to take a dip in the infinity pool which overlooks the valley below where buffalo, eland, impala, warthogs, bush buck and zebra can be seen at the waterhole.
It's then time for your gorilla tracking experience staying at Buhoma Lodge in Bwindi National Park. During your Gorilla Tracking, experienced wildlife guides, along with trackers and porters, will accompany you through the ever-green forest. The journey, through dense foliage and up steep climbs, leads you to lifetime experience of viewing mountain gorillas in their natural habitat. After finding the gorillas, you will have an opportunity to be within meters of these magnificent apes, sharing in their daily lives and experiencing their day-to-day activities. With an estimated 850 mountain gorilla population in the world, spending one hour with a gorilla family is a once in a lifetime experience.
In Queen Elizabeth National Park, you will visit two contrasting areas of the park, staying at Mweya Lodge and Ishasha Wilderness Camp. You will primarily enjoy game drives keeping a watch out for lion, elephant, cape buffalo, warthog, leopard, hyena, waterbuck, Ugandan Kob, and many more. There's the opportunity to enjoy a unique boat cruise on the Kazinga Channel and into Lake Edward. This trip passes through high concentrations of hippos and a wide variety of animals may be seen drinking at the water's edge. In the park you will also enjoy chimpanzee trekking at Kyambura Gorge. Besides chimpanzees, Kyambura Gorge is home to numerous primates which include baboons red-tailed monkeys, black and white Colubus, and Vervet monkeys among others. In the Ishasha area of the park, there's more big game but the area is particularly famous for its tree-climbing lions.
