This twin centre, self-drive itinerary takes in the best of Namibia's north and ends with a stay in South Africa's mother city, Cape Town.
Following a night in Windhoek on arrival, you will head towards Damaraland with a night's stop en route in Omaruru, a small town dominated by the volcanic Erongo mountain range rising to 2,320m above sea level. Explore the area on guided excursions and hikes to discover the impressive geology of the area, its flora and fauna and particularly, its ancient rock painting sites.
It's then time to immerse yourself in the famous Damaraland region, one of Namibia's most scenic areas. Look out upon distant mountain ranges, wide open plains and huge granite formations in this diverse and contrasting landscape. Here you can discover rare Bushman art, view desert elephant and track critically endangered black rhino. If you're up to it, climb the Brandberg, Namibia's highest peak.
Onwards then to arguably the highlight of the trip, Etosha National Park, a vast dry area of wilderness, home to some of Africa's best game viewing including the big cats, elephant, and black and white rhino. Etosha is most famous for its waterholes where animals gather for a drink. Many of these are floodlit for game viewing after dark. Guided game drives or self-drives are both possible here.
Following your Etosha safari you will make your way back to Windhoek Airport to catch your flight to Cape Town where you will collect your next hire car. You will spend 5 nights in Cape Town with its backdrop of the famous Table Mountain, the Atlantic Ocean and endless miles of sandy white beaches. Cape Town is also a melting pot of cultures and offers a colourful history, marvelous cuisine and friendly people. There is so much to do in Cape Town but must dos are a trip up Table Mountain, a visit Robben Island, a drive around the Cape Peninsula and a day trip to the Cape winelands.
