Your adventure begins in the medieval town of Bhaktapur, in the Kathmandu Valley. Offering a quieter introduction to Nepal than Kathmandu (which you will visit later in the trip), Bhaktapur boasts some incredible architecture including very well-preserved Newari buildings. Explore thoroughly with your guide before moving on to Chitwan National Park where you will track tigers, rhino and elephants on safari. Pokhara, the gateway to the Annapurna range, is your next stop. Dazzling snow-capped mountains loom above this pretty little town on the edge of the lake, and you will have the best views in town from your accommodation. While here, hike to the Australian Camp – the Himalayan views are amazing all day. Travel then to Kathmandu and explore this interesting capital city – a head-on collision between the old and new. Explore Swayambhunath temple and join devotees at the powerful Boudhnath Stupa.
Next up Bhutan. One of the most remote and traditional countries on earth. Largely unspoilt, carbon-negative, and home to yetis and dragons, Bhutan is an extraordinary travel destination. Explore well beyond the usual tourist trail on this journey. Start in Thimphu, the tiny capital, famous for having no traffic lights. Next stop Punakha, with its majestic Dzong (fortress) on the confluence of two rivers. Visit the Chhimi Lhakang monastery and learn more about the divine madman who once lived there. Onwards to Gangtey then. Hike, explore and see the black-necked cranes. Soothe your weary muscles in the bath with sensational views across the Phobjikha Valley. Bumthang follows, very off the beaten track with not many people making it this far, but those who do, are rewarded with breath-taking scenery, ancient monasteries, and superb beer, care of the Red Panda brewery. Finally, fly back to Paro to hike up to the famous Tiger’s Nest Monastery. This journey is something truly special and you will have so many stories for friends and family back home.
