Joy's Camp is a tribute to Joy Adamson, built in an elegant oasis in the arid lands of Samburu National Reserve on the site of her tented home. Shaba is a secluded idyll; an arid landscape dotted with lush springs and rocky river gorges.
Joy's Camp is best suited for discerning guests interested in Kenyan history, as well as those looking for an authentic wildlife experience combined with the comfort of a luxury-tented camp. Overlooking a large natural spring guests at Joy's Camp have regular sightings of elephant, leopard and lion jostling for watering rights with herds of buffalo and the rare desert species of Beisa oryx, reticulated giraffe and Grevy's zebra.
The 10 chic canvas bedrooms are raised off the ground with breathtaking views of the surrounding hills. Each 100m sq tent has a fresh style and consists of a large main bedroom, ensuite bathroom (flush loo, hot running water and shower) and a large veranda.
How to get to Joy's Camp
The camp is a 15 min transfer from Chaffa airstrip or 315 km road transfer from Nairobi.
Activities at Joy's Camp
Two game drives per day, cultural visits, bush meals along Ewaso Nyiro River and Gorge and sundowners.

The actual managers were away and the temporary persons were pleasant and helpful. There was no other guests after the first night so it was rather quiet. The tents were very well appointed and the view was great of the marsh/water hole. The food again, was varied and tasty. Our guide Mohamed was very good although at first there was not many smiles by the end of the 4 days it was great fun. Regretfully we found leopard and cheetah to be away on holiday but we all had a good time without them!Read full trip review
