Composed of spacious classic safari tents, the camp offers fantastic views out across the wild Masai Plains, with the Oloololo Escarpment in the background.

Not only do you get the excitement of sleeping under canvas and going out on game drives to witness the spectacle of the Masai Mara, including the annual wildebeest migration, but you are also privy to another hidden side of the Mara by taking night drives and bush walks.

Kichwa Tembo Tented Camp offers 20 superior tents, 8 superior view tents and 12 classic tents. The accommodation is well spaced out, with each tent featuring en-suite bathrooms and a built-in daybed to watch game casually pass by. The general guest area includes a reception, safari shop, bar/sitting room and an indoor/outdoor dining area. There is also an inviting swimming pool overlooking the endless, game filled plains.

Getting There

Fly into the Kichwa Tembo airstrip, roughly 1 hour's flight from Nairobi and then transfer 30 minutes, game viewing en route, to reach the camp. To road transfer from Nairobi takes about 6 - 7 hours.

Activities

2 game drives per day, night game drives, bush walks, bush banquets, sundowners, hot air ballooning and cultural visits.

We were upgraded to the Bateleur Camp at the last minute, which was completely amazing. This was the nicest place we have ever stayed. The chef made the best vegetarian food for me, even better than I could have imagined myself. Our tent had an incredible view of the Masai Mara. Our housekeeper left surprises for us in our room, such as champagne, flowers, and hot bubble…
