Little Governor's Camp in Kenya's Masai Mara is set up around a watering hole making it an ideal place to sit back and watch the multitude of birds and animals that call by, even before you have got out on a game drive. Little Governor's Camp offers guests an intimate and romantic atmosphere being composed of only 17 tents set in the forest, each offering an ever changing view of the wildlife.
All tents have private verandas, showers with hot and cold running water and flush toilets. Meals are served in an open sided dining room and bar area under a cluster of tall trees. At night there is no electricity and camp is lit only by lanterns and candles.
The camp is unfenced and there is a resident family of warthogs that wander freely through the camp and guests may need to make way for elephants which sometimes visit the camp at lunch time. Little Governors Camp has been awarded a Bronze Eco-Rating from Eco Tourism Kenya due to its sustainable practices in place in camp.
Fly into the Musiara airstrip, 45 minutes flight from Nairobi and then transfer for 15 minutes to reach the camp. Final approach to the camp is by boat across the Mara River and then on foot. To road transfer from Nairobi takes about 6 hours.
Game drives, balloon safaris, bush walks, champagne bush breakfasts, sundowners, cultural visits to Maasai villages or community projects supported by Governors and excursions to Lake Victoria can be arranged.
