Saruni Samburu

Located north of Samburu National Reserve in Kenya's wild north, Saruni Samburu is a 'design' lodge surrounded by 240,000 acres of private wildlife conservancy. Perched on a spectacular viewpoint with an all-round view of Northern Kenya all the way to the snow-covered Mount Kenya, its 6 villas, lounge, dining room and large swimming pool overlook several waterholes where the famous Samburu elephant, leopard, reticulated giraffe, Oryx and Grevy's zebra gather to drink.

Game drives take place in the Kalama Conservancy, Samburu National Reserve, Buffalo Springs National Reserve and West Gate Conservancy and cultural immersion programs offer genuine insight into the ways of the Samburu people.

Saruni offers 6 villas (4 of which are large family villas) with luxurious interiors, open-sided walls and canvas-shaded decks. Saruni is renowned for delicious cuisine and each villa has its own dining area, offering self-contained privacy and magnificent views.

Getting There

Kalama Airstrip is 20 minute drive from the lodge and Samburu Oryx Airstrip is 1 hour drive from the lodge.

Again a wonderful & beautiful lodge with amazing views from the mountain top. Private reserve was very dry & hot (38 c), so we travelled to the main Samburu reserve. Again excellent guide in John, with the highlight of tracking 4 cheetahs for 2.5 hours; witnessing a grants gazelle kill with no other vehicles around. Great food & staff.
