Mathews Range is a stretch of peaks and hills which tower above the savannah lowlands below. It provides a haven for more than 350 bird species and 150 species of butterflies. And for Kitich Forest Camp - perfect for those wishing to unwind and recharge in one of Kenya’s best-preserved highland forest ecosystems. If you want a traditional safari in the back of a 4x4, you won’t find it here. Spend your time relaxing in hammocks, hiking through the forest, fly camping, exploring the Milgis Lugga by camel, swimming in a waterfall, cycling through the valleys, and doing yoga.

A forest camp with as little a footprint as possible, the 6 canvas tents offer the rustic charm of an old-school safari experience, without compromising on luxury and comfort. The bathrooms have flushing toilets and hot showers. The tents all have a private veranda overlooking the Ngeng River valley, frequented by elephants, wild dog, buffalo, and antelope. Mealtimes are relaxed and, with a maximum of only 12 guests in camp at any one time, meals are enjoyed together in the dining area overlooking a lush river glade. There’s also the option to eat an al fresco picnic lunch in the forest. The daily set menu features age-old Italian recipes, made with fresh organic ingredients grown in the camp’s garden.
