The Masoala Peninsula is a densely forested area on Madagascar's northeast coast. It contains the largest remaining block of protected rainforest in Madagascar which harbors a wealth of rare species including the Red-Ruffed Lemur, seen only in Masoala, and the elusive Aye-Aye, surely Madagascar's strangest lemur species. Only accessed by boat across Antongil Bay, the peninsula is a destination with lush rainforests and golden sandy beaches.
