Located at the heart of one of Malawi's Big Five parks, Mkulumadzi is surrounded by a private concession and sits at the meeting point of two rivers, creating exceptional game viewing. The reserve it's situated in, Majete Wildlife Reserve, used to be a hot spot for poachers but since 2003 the park has become incredibly biodiverse and a paradise for endangered species.
Mkulumadzi is an adventure from the start, with guests crossing the river on a suspended footbridge to enter the camp. The property has eight large chalets with views out onto the river, each with a large open bedroom, en-suite bathroom and outdoor shower. The private viewing decks offer guests views of the Shire Rover and are the perfect place to relax and take in the sights and sounds of the bush. As a special feature, the roof of each chalet is covered by a garden of succulents, making the camp more environmentally friendly while keeping the chalets cool under the hot Malawian sun.
The camp offers a main pool for guests to enjoy, dining under the stars, river cruises and a chance to sleep under the stars in the camp's new star-deck.
Two hours drive from Blantyre or a light aircraft flight to Majete Airstrip, followed by a 20 minute transfer to camp.
Game drives, boating safaris (subject to water levels), bush walks, cultural tours, birding trups, game viewing from a hide

Review of Mkulumadzi Lodge
The Mkulumadzi Lodge setting is spectacular and the accommodation quite luxurious. Compared to Liwonde National Park (Mvuu Lodge) the wildlife in the Majete National Park seemed to be less abundant - particularly for the night drives.
