Danielle grew up in County Tyrone before setting off to see more of the world than her "little green island" could offer. She studied events management in Liverpool, then spent time living and working across Australia, Vietnam and New Zealand, teaching English in Haiphong and eventually building a career in travel.

That instinct to properly get to know a place, not just pass through it, has stayed with Danielle ever since. She has since travelled extensively through Africa and beyond, giving her firsthand insight into the destinations she now designs journeys around.

Today, as a Travel Expert at Mahlatini specialising in Africa, Danielle loves that no two days are the same. She's passionate about crafting trips that clients carry with them for years, the kind of experience people come back from with a smile on their face and a story they'll tell for life.

Most Memorable Trip

My first night on safari in the Serengeti. Lying in a tent listening to hyenas calling and lions roaring nearby, I couldn't believe that was really where I was.

Top of My Bucket List

Botswana. I'd love to see the Okavango Delta and experience it properly by mokoro.

Favourite Safari Animal

The hyena. I love their fierce, female-led packs, and think they're one of the most fascinating animals you'll spot on safari.

Sundowner of Choice

A gin and tonic, made properly: ice first, garnish, gin, then the right tonic, finished with a twist of citrus.

Favourite Property

Angama Mara. The views are intense, and I can almost taste the drink just picturing their fire pit.

Top Travel Tip

Pack light. It leaves room in your case for a proper souvenir, like a piece of local art or jewellery, rather than the usual trinkets, and it becomes a story worth telling every time someone asks about it.

Best Part of My Job

It's never boring. I get to sell experiences that can genuinely change how someone sees the world, and there's nothing better than hearing clients talk about their trip with a smile on their face.
