When we were first looking at Benguerra Island we wanted to stay at the Azura Lodge having seen that pop up on many top hotel listings online. Claire gave us her opinions on Benguerra Lodge and Azura and we ultimately decided on Bengerra Lodge. I am so happy we made that decision. The hotel was so beautiful -our room was fabulous...extremely spacious and the pool/beach area outside our room was incredible. We took a walk down to the Azura Lodge and thought andBeyond was 10 times nicer. They recently renovated the hotel this past year and it looks fantastic. I would highly recommend to my friends/family.

The remoteness and beauty of this island and the heli trip to get there were perhaps the highlights of the whole trip. We loved the casinha famiglia, private pool, and sense of space and privacy. The food was good though limited in choice at each meal. A children's option at each meal would have been greatly appreciated too. Meal planning was a daily chore and a communication challenge between us (with children) the butlers and the chef and often the manager! The butlers a little clumsy but meant well and added to the quirkiness of the place. The management was entirely absent during our stay until the bill arrived on the last day! The hotel seemed to rely entirely on Kerry- Lee the activities manager. The diving centre needs to be better staffed to accommodate daily snorkelling trips and dives. The current set up means the hotel could not offer both each day which was a challenge for us as we had snorkellers and divers in our group! On balance, I would recommend this island to friends in a flash though I might suggest checking out Azore next door.......

Gorgeous, Beautiful and Friendly Staff. Cannot find fault with this place. If you want a hut on the beach to wake up to the waves - you couldn't do better.

Everyone's stay must be in a casita. These are very well equiped and fantastically located on the beach which gives a lot of privacy to the guests. The island is a true paradise. At low tides you are able to walk kilometers on the sand into the sea and at high tide you can swim for hours in the warm indian ocean's waters. The food is catched in the day by the local fisherman which is fantastic. The service is excellent.

Location was spectacular - the casita was beautiful and we really enjoyed the pool and dhow bar as well. We liked the activities offered but did feel that the non-inclusive options were a bit pricey considering the nightly cost of the lodge.

The lodge itself and the accommodations were beautiful. We weren't picked up at the airfield. We caught a ride to another lodge and waited until they came and picked us up from there. Then all the managers tried to blame other guests for the delay that caused them to miss picking us up. The staff tried very hard - we enjoyed our butler. The food was not very good, although presentation was nice. It was relaxing, and a nice end to the trip overall...but we wouldn't go back, and probably wouldn't recommend it to anyone.

Slightly more rustic - quite a lot more rustic actually! Felt slightly vulnerable at night having no windows or doors, shower curtain fit really badly, so room flooded every time we had a shower, not very nice! Extra activities were ridiculously expensive - think you might need to forewarn people of this, as it is USA dollar e.g $120 2 hour horse ride (didnt do it!) $575 half day fishing..... over the top in our opiion! But food delicious, staff very friendly, beaches stunning, sea warm.... lovely!!
