Sussurro is a pared-back, light-footprint retreat nestled along the tranquil shores of a secluded and pristine saltwater lagoon in Southern Mozambique. Offering only 6 bungalows, it’s an eco-conscious boutique hotel with intentionally minimalist interiors to encourage mindfulness and reconnection with nature.
Each of the private bungalows provides over a thousand square feet of personal space as well as indoor and outdoor bathing facilities and generous waterfront verandas. Mozambican vernacular architecture weaves a natural canopy above billowing mosquito nets. The living spaces include a gallery, library, lap pool, guest bar, restaurant, and elemental yoga deck. For meals, there’s a casual, open-plan kitchen which invites collaboration and conversation. The chef serves delicious meals using fresh produce harvested straight from the on-site garden or sourced from organic farmers’ markets. When you are not chilling at the lodge, embark on dhow trips to explore the lagoon, mangroves, and river system, as well as island excursions in the sea.
