Found in the Southern Kalahari, Bagatelle Kalahari Game Ranch is an excellent escape from the outside world. Surrounded by rolling red dunes, the area is shrubby and dotted by small trees, which add character to the dramatic landscape. Literally in the middle of nowhere and 270 km from Windhoek, guests are afforded complete desert tranquillity and a number of opportunities to grow acquainted with the local people and their culture.
The Bushmen or San people still live by traditional means, hunting and living as they have for centuries. Accompanied by a guide, guests can visit the Bushmen village and discover their unique way of life; learning from them survival tactics, how the local flora can become medicine, how to use ostrich eggs to store water and how to set traps. One of the best ways to explore the area is galloping through the dunes on horseback. Stop off on this exciting excursion and enjoy the solitude of the endless plains over a drink before heading back to the lodge. Guests can also experience incredible star gazing, game drives and up close cheetah sightings.
The main guest area of the lodge features a comfortable lounge and dining area and is a great place to relax in-between activities. Meals are traditionally African, and there is a swimming pool to cool off in the desert sun. Rooms at Bagatelle are well-appointed and are split between 3 room types. All room options feature a roof fan, air conditioner and a mini-bar.
270km from Windhoek via the B1 and 50km from Mariental via the C20 and the D1268.
Day and night game drives, horseriding, stargazing and cultural interaction.
