Canyon Kilpspringer Hiking Trail

The Canyon Klipspringer Trail is a 4 night, 3 day walking trail (total distance ±32km) through the Fish River Canyon, the second largest canyon on earth which runs through two desert systems, the Nama Karoo and the Succulent Karoo (the most diverse desert on earth). It is a landscape of meandering gorges up to 500m deep which twist and turn through ancient layers of rock. The flora of the canyon includes unique plants like the quiver tree and candelabra euphorbia and interesting game can be spotted too such as mountain zebra, kudu, duiker, springbok, klipspringer ostrich.

The trail is designed for adventurously-minded and physically fit hiking enthusiasts who can expect a unique and exciting experience of diverse canyon scenery, gorges, springs, the fascinating plant and animal world of the Nama Karoo Desert, swimming and fishing in natural pools and four nights in the open under the starry sky or in a tent.

Luggage and equipment are conveyed between the overnight camps, so participants only need to pack water and snacks for the day's hike - and their cameras. Each overnight camp also offers cooking and bathroom facilities.

The trail allows for a minimum of 4 people and a maximum of 12 people and only runs from 15 April to 15 September..
