Canyon Lodge

Explore Namibia

Only 20 km away from Fish River Canyon, the largest canyon in Africa and second largest in the world, Canyon Lodge (Canon/ Canon Lodge) sports a charming rustic ambience. Located in Gondwana Canyon Park, the surrounding vistas offer views of sandy grassland and large rock formations.

With only 25 private chalets on offer, the lodge provides a small and intimate space to escape the outside world. Surrounded by impressive granite boulders, room interiors feature stone walls, thatched roofs, en-suite bathrooms and the welcome addition of air conditioning, to stay cool from the Namibian sun. The old farmhouse, around which the lodge is based, provides guests with a restaurant and bar area as well as fireplaces, which are ideal in the winter months. Relax and take in the distinctive nature of the carefully arranged decoration to tumble back in time to the pioneering days of farming. The lodge also provides a swimming pool, which is set quite far apart from the main area and delivers beautiful views; perfect for relaxation.

Gondwana Canyon Park's 1,260 kmĀ² provides an incredible place to explore, with a strong concentration of game, including ostrich and Burchell's Zebra. Guests have a choice between horse, four-wheel drive and walking stick to become better aquatinted with the park.

How to get to Canyon Lodge

Around 9 hour's drive from Windhoek but it is not advisable to drive the distance in 1 day. It is best to overnight either somewhere in the Mariental or in Keetmanshoop.

Activities at Canyon Lodge

Morning walks, horse riding, drives to Fish River Canyon and standard game drives with sundowners. A self-drive option is also available.
