Kulala Desert Lodge

Found in the vast Namib Desert, Kulala Desert Lodge is the closest property to the famous red dunes of Sossusvlei. The lodge holds a phenomenal setting, with the endless arid plains of the Namib Desert, believed to be the oldest desert in the world, stretching out as far as the eye can see. The lodge rests in the privacy of its own 37,000 hectare reserve. There are various means to take in the surrounding wilderness, with guided quad biking an option, while hot-air ballooning is another possibility and is sure to guarantee incredible views over the sea of dunes.

Guests can expect an authentic experience from Kulala, with 23 canvas and thatch units, all of which complement their natural surroundings and provide guests with comfortable accommodation. Rooms are outfitted with ceiling fans to stay cool from the desert heat, while the platforms on which the rooms are built raise the units off the ground to catch the breeze and maintain good airflow. All rooms are en suite and provide verandas from which guests can admire the surrounding area. Should guests wish to, they can sleep out under the vast and star studded sky on the room's flat rooftops.

The main area provides a variety of facilities to accommodate guests, including a welcome plunge pool, a dining and bar area and a wonderful veranda that looks out upon a waterhole in front of the camp; ideal for a spot of casual game viewing.
