At the foot of a sandstone cliff sits Namib Desert Lodge, just 60km north of Sesriem, the gateway to Sossusvlei. Its home is the Gondwana Namib Park which shares a border with the Namib Naukluft Park. Surrounding the lodge are fossilised dunes over 20 million years old containing fossils of the ancestors of the modern-day ostrich.
One of the more reasonably priced options in the area, Namib Desert Lodge is down to earth and homely. It has a total of 68 rooms all in rows set in the gorgeous gardens. Walkways lead to the rooms which are simple but comfortable. They all have private verandahs and are all equipped with twin beds, en-suite bathrooms and air-conditioning. Some of the rooms overlook the dunes and others the cliffs. The lodge's main area has a reception, restaurant, bar and large verandah for guests to admire the fossilised dunes, which at night, are lit to make them even more impressive. There are also 2 swimming pools at the lodge.
One of the highlights of a stay at Namib Desert Lodge is spending a night in the dunes at Dune Star Camp. The ultimate desert experience, it's a simple hideaway deep in the Namib Desert. Guests will overnight in spacious wooden bungalows which have beds with wheels to enable a sleep-out under the stars.

Adventure Holiday to Namib Desert Lodge
This was our favorite accommodation. The lodge was positioned under a ridge and had the most spectacular views. The rooms were comfortable, the food was excellent and it was a fantastic place to start our holiday. It impressed us on every level.
