Located on the banks of the Okavango River in northeast Namibia, River Dance Lodge is an ideal base from which to explore Popa Falls, the Bwabwata National Park and Mahango Game Reserve, all of which are within an hour's drive. River Dance Lodge is owner managed and staffed by employees from the local community. Nestled among beautiful trees, it's a peaceful and secluded retreat where guests can enjoy an abundance of wildlife including elephant, leopard, cheetah, hippo, buffalo, sable and roan antelope and more than 430 bird species.
Each of the luxury, private rooms are tucked away in riverine woodland and set on the waterfront. Constructed of wood and glass the rooms come complete with local linens, extra length beds and private decks. The bathrooms have a bath and shower as well as biodegradable toiletries. There is also a family unit able to accommodate 2 adults and up to 2 children. There is also a campsite on the property offering privacy and easy access to the river.
Meals are served in the restaurant or open deck area where guests can enjoy fruit from the lodge's own orchard, vegetables from the greenhouse and freshly caught fish the river. Other delicious options including goat's milk, cheese, honey, eggs and wild fruits are all locally sourced.
After a day's activities, there is the opportunity to relax in the lodge's lounge or jump into the splash pool. For something particularly different, a short wooden path will lead you to your own holistic experience, a 'mokoro' inspired bath of bio-degradable rooibos (redbush tea), rosemary and spring water toiletries.
24km from the town of Divundu which is on the south-eastern banks of the Okavango River in the Kavango East Region, some 200 kilometres (120 mi) east of Rundu.
