Surrounded by endless desert plains and rocky mountains, Wolwedans Dunes Lodge is an incredible escape from the bustle of everyday life. Situated in the private NamibRand Nature Reserve, in the world's oldest desert, the Namib, incredible desert vistas are on offer for guests to enjoy. There are only 9 chalets on offer, all of which are spacious and inviting. Each room possesses private verandas and en suite bathrooms with flush toilets and showers. The beds are covered with mosquito nets to keep out any unwanted guests and the canvas blinds can be rolled up for stargazing from the comfort of your bed. The Mountain View Suite is set apart from the other chalets and is the camps more luxurious option.
The main area holds a swimming pool, ideal for staying cool from the desert heat, along with a number of decks for sharing cocktails, two lounges, a cosy fireplace for the cooler evenings and two dining rooms. Guests are also afforded a small library in which to relax and take it easy with a good book. The pool is quite the spectacle, looking out on phenomenal desert views, and suspended off the sand. This central hub is not just one building, it is a collection of rooms, all of which sport the same wood/ canvas style as that held by the other buildings in camp. Meals are delicious, and guests can have fun getting to grips with the lodge wine cellar, where wine tasting is there to be enjoyed.
Wolwedans is 770 km south of Sesriem/Sossuvlei. Driving times from Windhoek is approximately 6 hours. Flying the same routes takes about an hour.
