Found in the vast Namib Desert, Kulala Desert Lodge is the closest property to the famous red dunes of Sossusvlei. The lodge holds a phenomenal setting, with the endless arid plains of the Namib Desert, believed to be the oldest desert in the world, stretching out as far as the eye can see. The lodge rests in the privacy of its own 37,000 hectare reserve and offers numerous ways to take in the surrounding wilderness, including guided hiking, quad biking and electric biking, while hot-air ballooning is sure to guarantee you incredible views over the sea of red dunes.
Kulala Desert Lodge consists of 23 canvas and thatch units carefully designed to blend into their natural surroundings. All rooms are fitted with ceiling fans to stay cool from the desert heat, while platforms raise the units off the ground to catch the breeze. You may also enjoy spending a night under the impossibly starry desert skies on the lodge's flat rooftop. The main area provides a variety of facilities to accommodate guests, including a welcome plunge pool, a dining and bar area and a wonderful veranda that looks out upon a waterhole in front of the camp; ideal for a spot of casual game viewing.

Wilderness Camps are super amazing; the staff are so attentive and friendly. The food was superb, and the detailed organisation that required no effort on our part was greatly appreciated.
Our stay was short, unfortunately, but there were great activities, super staff, and a great guide. We made the most of our time there. All in all, it was amazing. We were even looked after once we left by having reservations made in future locations.
