Family holiday to Zimbabwe & South Africa
Mark, Rachel & Baillache Family, 5th April 2019Really great holiday. All organised extremely well. Kids all agreed it was the best family holiday we have had (and we had some great holidays having lived in Asia for 3 years). To be fair it was not cheap (!) but there were so many different experiences in the 2.5 weeks and we could never have pieced such an itinerary together by ourselves - no chance. Can't wait to do it again.

“The Victoria Falls are amazing but Vic Falls is v v expensive for what you get.
Linkwasha was a wonderful first safari experience for the family.
I would impress on guests to Vic Falls that they need a lot of US$ in cash. I'd actually say Vic Falls is $ for $ one of the most expensive places to go to for what you get - so you'd better really want to see the falls to go. Else it's not worth it. We did, so that's fine.
Vic Falls also has some amazing activities - we did tandem sky dives out of a plane that circled the Falls before we exited with views of the Falls and the Zambezi. Absolute must. I would go back just to do that again!”

“Cape Town and Jaci Sabis were amazing - Grootbos was hard to enjoy because it rained for 90% of the time we were there.”
Accommodation Visited
Victoria Falls Safari Suites
“We pushed to stay here as we stayed in 1998 for a few days on our honeymoon.
The accommodation was a bit tired, but the apartment worked really well as a family.
The Lodge's water hole was great and provided an immediate safari feel to the holiday without it being the main feature of the stay.
All in all I would say if guests really want to see the Falls, then it is a good option because of the water hole.”
Linkwasha Camp
“The camp was first class. The food was amazing. The safari guide was great.
The only thing I would flag is that if you are first time on safari and you don't really appreciate the difference between a private game reserve and a national park, then it is initially a bit frustrating when you can be viewing the game in a national park from a great distance - because you can't go off road.
Also the ability to do walking safaris between the morning and afternoon game drives was limited to the qualifications of your guide / the availability of another if yours is not sufficiently qualified.
Would we go back - has to be the acid test - absolutely. We would certainly be more than happy to go to another Wilderness Safari lodge.
The guide was great with the kids, as were all the staff.”

“Great place. Amazing food. Superb staff.
But - if the weather is bad - and we caught some bad weather - then there really is nothing to do there or in the region.
If we had been there a day longer I would have thrown in the towel and gotten up to Cape Town.”
One & Only Cape Town
“First class hotel.
Superb in all respects (though I'd advise guests to avoid Nobu - the brand name is Nobu but the food wasn't quite up to London Nobu standards for the prices).
The activities Greg organised were great. Can't recall the name of the company but over two days the kids had so much fun. Cape Town for the kids was the surprise hit of the holiday.”
Jaci's Sabi House
“Fantastic.
No hesitation we would go back.
When we first arrived I was not sure.
After such great food and wine and Linkwasha, Grootbos and One and Only it was quite limited at Jaci Sabis - though the staff tried super hard it was good but not great.
But ..... far outweighing that was the support and help of the staff and privacy and personalised nature of the stay. The wildlife was amazing.
When Joe and Rachel were sick the staff could not have been more helpful.
No doubt Jaci Sabis was the highlight of the holiday.
It is exactly the way we would like to spend further family vacations on safari.”
