Honeymoon to South Africa & Mauritius
Kristen Novak, 12th November 2022We worked with Caroline at Mahlatini to plan our honeymoon trip to South Africa and Mauritius and it was absolutely incredible! From the moment we stepped off the plane in Johannesburg, we felt welcomed and taken care of. Every part of the trip had been meticulously planned and executed, and we felt so special. Everything from expert planning, warm hospitality, stunning accommodations, delicious food, and safe and comfortable transportation was flawless. We are so happy that we chose Mahlatini to plan and execute the trip of a lifetime and hope to have another trip in the future!

“The hotel and room were beautiful and we were welcomed with a sweet surprise of champagne, strawberries, and some treats upon arriving! The location of the hotel can't be beaten, as it is directly across from the airport! We arrived in the evening and had an early morning flight so we were really happy to be able to just walk across the street and check in for our flight, rather than having to arrange for a ride to/from. The room was clean and beautiful and the restaurant at the hotel (for both dinner and breakfast) was delicious! The staff was warm and welcoming. Our stay was short but very enjoyable!”
Saseka Tented Camp
“To sum it all up in one word, "WOW"!! Saseka truly holds up to the meaning of its name. From the moment we got out of the car, Saseka became our home away from home. We have gone on and on about Saseka since returning from our trip. It is hard to describe how incredible this place was, as it was unlike any experience either of us has ever had. The accommodations are unmatched. Our "tent" was stunning and extremely comfortable. You have all of the luxuries of being in a 5-star property, while still being able to experience the sights and sounds of the South African bush. You also never go hungry or thirsty, that is for sure! The staff at Saseka quickly becomes your family and they made us feel so special. Sanof took care of us during our stay and we are so grateful for his hospitality. He was with us at every meal with different food and wine recommendations, always going above and beyond. On our last night, we came back from our evening game drive and were welcomed back with a private candlelit dinner right next to our pool and a bath drawn with candles and champagne! It was magical. And that was just the accommodations and service, I haven't even gotten into how absolutely incredible our game drives were!
We were lucky to have Tracy and Moses as our guide and tracker. Tracy was incredibly knowledgeable and taught us all about the animals, birds, insects, and land that call Thornybush home. We enjoyed speaking with her and were in awe about how close she would get us to the animals. Our tracker, Moses, has a beautiful gift for being able to spot animals. We were tracking Saseka (the resident leopard) and some other trackers had seen her tracks earlier in the day. We were cruising around the area around dusk when Moses simply said to Tracy, "stop, there's a leopard in a tree". That leopard (Saseka), happened to be about 150 yards away and he was able to spot her by her tail hanging down in the tree. INCREDIBLE! Tracy got us right up to Saseka and we were delighted to also see her cub in the tree with her, along with a recent Impala kill hanging next to them. Complete with two hyenas waiting for any scraps at the bottom of the tree, it was an experience that we will never forget.

Summerfields Rose Retreat & Spa
“Summerfields is an absolutely stunning property! The grounds, accommodations, and restaurant are gorgeous and the food is delicious. We did have a bit of a strange situation when we checked in where we were given a "panic button" that was said to be meant for if a person was trying to get into the room. After I was told about that, I was a bit frightened to sleep at night and had a hard time getting my mind off of that, especially since our room didn't have any curtains/blinds and was a wall of windows! Other than that, the property itself was amazing and it was really cool to see a different part of South Africa. We loved the monkeys running around eating the fruit that fell from the trees!”
LUX* Le Morne
“How do we even begin to describe the beauty of LUX Le Morne? We have never been to a resort that is this stunning. We arrived late at night and when we woke up in the morning, we were greeted with the most beautiful slice of paradise with the Indian Ocean a few steps from our room. We stayed in a Prestige Junior Suite so we had a first-floor room that walked straight out to the beach, as well as an incredible outdoor shower that made showering after a day in the sun a spa-like experience. The room was crisp and clean, and the bed was very comfortable. Our veranda outside was equipped with a sofa and huge daybed for lounging any time of the day. We stayed at LUX for 7 nights and did the all inclusive package which was perfect for us. We never tired of the food or restaurants, as there was a wide variety to choose from. Just the buffet alone had an immense selection of options, no matter what diet you have. I personally have a gluten allergy and there were plenty of delicious options to choose from and it was easy to know what was safe to eat. They even had gluten-free bread and/or muffins at every restaurant! My husband loved the fresh pastries/breads/croissants and we both thoroughly enjoyed the coffee bar. The staff was once again absolutely incredible. We quickly became friends with Kanden, and still keep in touch with him a bit to this day! We have never felt so relaxed and truly able to simply soak up the beauty of life.”

“We are so lucky to have been connected with Caroline! When we first made an inquiry to Mahlatini, we had no idea what we were looking for, or how to even go about booking a safari/island honeymoon. We had done some research on the combination of the two, but anyone who has planned or looked into this type of trip will be able to tell you that it can quickly become overwhelming with all of the different options and locations! Caroline is an expert and was super responsive from our first conversation, through booking, and then throughout our entire trip. On our first call, she asked us several questions to get an understanding of who we are and what type of trip we were envisioning. Based on this conversation, she used her knowledge of the different locations and properties to curate several options for us to choose from within our budget. Having these options given to us, knowing they were all available for our dates and within the budget was a treat, especially since we were also planning our wedding at the same time and didn't have as much time to devote to doing research on our own.
We were coming from the US, so this was the biggest trip we had both ever taken and we had A LOT of questions about everything. Caroline handled our questions beautifully and was always happy to hop on a phone call to answer questions or provide advice! Working with a reputable company that has connections and can provide safe and efficient accommodations and transportation was very important to us. Caroline and Mahlatini delivered on that with every airport transport/shuttle/and accommodation we stayed in. The accommodations were 5-star, the cars that we were transported in were clean and had amazing, pleasant drivers, and every ride worked like clockwork. We have both never been on a trip that was planned for us and it was truly a luxury!
