“Exceeded our expectations. The room was huge and comfortable, opening out onto a decking area that overlooked the lake, where a family of hippos resided. Each day, we saw other animals on the far shore. The meals were wonderful, and the service was perfect. During our four-night stay, we went on eight game drives, each unique in character. Our guide, Surprise, and tracker, Ranson, must be exceptionally gifted, as they were able to find us all of the Big Five. One of the highlights of our trip was seeing four lions and a lioness devouring a recently killed kudu. Another was joining in the chase as a zebra drove four wild dogs away from its area. This was so thrilling. On the game drives here, you can go off-road, enabling you to see much more. The vehicles were surprisingly comfortable. It was cold in the mornings, but luckily we heeded advice and made sure to wrap up warm.
We were expecting to be able to do a walking safari, but it was explained to us that we were too old as we are over 65 years. This was a little disappointing, but we do not blame the guide, as he must adhere to the rules. Maybe the lodge or Mahlatini could have made that clear beforehand, and then we would have known what to expect. This did not detract from our overall experience of Chitwa Chitwa, which was incredible. We feel very lucky to have stayed here and to have such wonderful memories.”

“Our stay was short but very enjoyable. Our room was upgraded to a very large suite which had everything we needed and more. The food was excellent. The staff was very welcoming, friendly and helpful. For example, without us asking, they told us we could stay in our room beyond check-out time until our transfer. We would definitely recommend Oliver's.”

“This was an overnight stay and very convenient for our flight the next day. We were not able to have dinner in the dining room as the time offered was too late for us but we used room service which was fine. We found the room to be over-furnished for our taste and the lighting inadequate. Even the porter was having trouble getting enough light. However, the breakfast the next morning was very good indeed.”

“We chose Praslin and L'Archipel for a seven-night stay because we wanted somewhere relatively quiet and relaxing with rooms separated from one another. It did not disappoint. It was perfect for what we wanted. The room was spacious and comfortable, with a verandah looking out over the beautiful bay. The staff were friendly and helpful. As a small example of the attention to detail, a light bulb went out in the toilet but was replaced while we were at breakfast without us even having to ask. The food was very good, with a varied menu. The reception staff were very attentive, making sure that everything was on time for our days out and our final transfer. A big bonus was the use of a shower room on the evening of our departure, which was both unexpected and very welcome. The "shower room" turned out to be a lounge/library area with two showers attached! We would definitely recommend L'Archipel.”
