The Residence Zanzibar
“The property is nice, and our room with a pool was helpful and convenient. However, there was no beach access, the food wasn't great, and it didn't feel like it was worth the price tag. My larger feedback is below:
At The Residence Zanzibar, we were quite unhappy. So much so that we tried to book a different hotel after the first day, but due to the holiday, nothing was available. The beach was unswimmable due to the incredibly low tide and algae, which was supposed to be the main highlight of a beach vacation. We spent $200 USD going to the north side of the island one day just to be able to enjoy the beach for a few hours. The food wasn’t great and it was actually the only spot where we experienced upset stomachs during our entire trip. There was also a significant lack of activities.
Additionally, there was no mention of our honeymoon, which was a real shame. We felt we were being nickel-and-dimed for various things, including water outside our rooms, which was very surprising. Although the property is beautiful, it is very rundown, with issues such as floorboards by the pool coming up and creating tripping hazards, as well as all the bikes having flat tires with no air.”
