holiday to South Africa & Mauritius
Jake Gaines, 11th November 2025Our honeymoon in South Africa and Mauritius was the trip of a lifetime. We had an amazing experience at each of the properties we stayed at and the adventures booked on our behalf were incredible. We knew that our honeymoon would be unforgettable, but it shattered any expectations that we had. To be honest, we want to talk about the honeymoon now more than the wedding! Thank you to Kitty and the Mahlatini team for planning our honeymoon.
Accommodation Visited
One & Only Cape Town
“The views at the One & Only Cape Town were exceptional. Both the lobby and our balcony had a stunning view of Table Mountain. The lobby bar was just a great place to hang out and grab a pre-dinner cocktail. Our room was large and comfortable, and we were greeted by a nice bottle of champagne. The staff were also lovely; everyone was so nice and helpful. Breakfast was delicious as well. Lastly, the location can't be beat. You're in walking distance from the V&A Waterfront, which was great for shopping and exploring on foot. It was also so easy to Uber to dinner reservations that we'd booked in other areas of Cape Town. We'd gladly stay at this hotel or another One & Only again.”
Leeu Estates
“Leeu Estates is a stunning, sprawling property with exquisite gardens and sculptures. It is so well-kept and has gorgeous views of the surrounding mountains as well. The cottages where guests stay are adorable, and the main house where breakfast is held is very cute. The service could have been faster at the main house restaurant and bar, but the food was delicious. All of the staff were nice and accommodating. Our room was comfortable although it was nothing to write home about. The main draw is the property itself. We spent hours just wandering the grounds. We had a lovely time at both La Petite Colombe and Mullineux & Leeu winery which are on the property. There is a complimentary tasting at the winery as well. We loved how this property was centrally located. We could Uber anywhere or have the staff take us to the downtown area in just 5 minutes. Highly recommend staying at Leeu Estates!”
Saseka Tented Camp
“Let us just start by staying that this review could never capture all of the amazing things to say about our stay at Saseka. The property itself is straight out of a magazine. We had no idea what to expect as safari newbies and now we fear that we've been too spoiled! The main lodge is open air and decorated beautifully. It made us feel like we were still connected to the bush, but living comfortably. Our tent was the perfect size with beautiful decor as well. We loved having a view of the riverbed and had some antelope and monkeys visit throughout our stay. The food was incredible. The staff fed us like royalty and everything was delicious. The staff really made our experience at Saseka. Everyone was so friendly and welcoming. Our butler Abee was the best, we just loved hanging out with him. Our guide Josia and tracker Antony gave us game drives that we'll remember forever! We saw the Big 5 in one drive and had too many other fabulous animal encounters to list. Saseka also plans fun experiences for the guests throughout their stay, like a barbeque on the riverbed. We were so sad to leave this place for so many reasons.”

St Regis Le Morne Resort
“The St Regis Mauritius is a picturesque property with a long, sandy beach and stunning views of Le Morne. The beach is lined with lots of palapas for guests to relax all day, and the water is always calm due to the waves breaking at the coral reef that surrounds the island. Food and drink service by the beach was great too. The hotel also offers complimentary water activities like snorkeling and kayaking. Our room was a bit dated, but it was comfortable and clean. Having a balcony with water views was the real treat as the property faces west, which means you get a gorgeous sunset every day. The rest of the property was really nice. There are several restaurants on site with great food, so you never have to leave!”

“We were overwhelmed by the idea of planning a honeymoon in Africa while planning our wedding, but working with Kitty and the rest of the Mahlatini team made the entire experience stress-free and fun. We submitted an inquiry and were matched with Kitty. We had an idea of where we wanted to travel before chatting with Kitty, but we were so impressed with how quickly she planned the entire trip after a 30-min conversation. Her proposed recommendations were exactly what we envisioned and more, plus it was within our budget! After another brief meeting, everything was booked. The Mahlatini team was available for questions and recommendations leading up to the trip itself, and we had another call with Kitty right before we left, which made us feel extremely prepared. We only needed to contact Kitty once while we were there and she was very responsive, resolving the miscommunication with our hotel and tour operator right away. We cannot wait for our next African adventure and will certainly book with Mahlatini (and hopefully Kitty!).”
