Holiday to Zambia, Zimbabwe & Mozambique
Dan Felkins, 21st May 2026This was the PERFECT bucket-list trip! A 16-day, 3-destination vacation requiring travel from the US to South Africa, Zambia (Thorntree River Lodge 3 nights), Zimbabwe (Somalisa Camp 3 nights), and Mozambique (Azura Benguerra 4 nights). All of the logistics were trouble-free, guides met us at the airport and escorted us through the customs process (a HUGE help!), and the airplane connections and transfers were excellent! The facilities (and food) at each of the lodging places were exquisite, and the people were absolutely beautiful and so genuinely friendly. Victoria Falls and all of the animals were simply magnificent! Each destination had a night dedicated to the food, clothing, dance, and music that were culturally fantastic to participate in. This was a beautiful experience that FAR EXCEEDED our expectations, and we will definitely repeat with Mahlatini.

“We were welcomed with a song by the staff! Everyone was so friendly and the lodge was beautiful! The food, the cleanliness, the staff, the activities, the BEDS! The staff were so incredibly warm and thoughtful. We were very sad to leave our new friends there, and they sang a beautiful farewell song for us. Our guide, Ezekiel, was AMAZING. He was veryfriendly, knowledgeable, could see even the stealthiest of animals, and he is a wealth of information. This is definitely a place to return to!”
Somalisa Camp
“What a fantastic experience Somalisa Camp is! It is very evident that African Bush Camps has an incredible staff training program. There are not enough words to describe how wonderful this wilderness experience was. The staff were warm and so very sincere, and met us with a beautiful song and miles of smiles. The lodging was quite fun and the beds were exremely comfortable. And the elephants...walking right through camp...what a terrific sight! Our guide Robert was so very friendly and knowledgeable - and he literally knows everything about the flora and fauna of the area. He always ensured that we were comfortable and safe. The morning coffee stops in the bush and afternoon sundowners were so fun! What a surprise and a treat! The food at camp - simply exquisite! For all of the terrific experiences we had, it still comes back to the camp staff - they are such warm and wonderful people. We were so sorry to leave!”

“This airport is HUGE, very clean, and very modern. Getting through the customs process was so easy with the airport guide to greet us as soon as we stepped off the plane. I highly recommend the guides if you are not familiar the airport. We moved quickly through the lines with his assistance, and he helped us with our bags (it was a long flight from the US/London). Azura Benguerra Island
“The beautiful people, the lodging, the food, the beach, the snorkeling, the incredible sunsets - what a relaxing and special end to a terrific vacation. They surprised us with a very special candlelight dinner on the beach on our last night there. Olivia (manager) is so fun and such a delight - and the staff...once again, the staff made our wonderful trip extraordinary. They are so humble, warm and genuine, and absolutely made a tremendous vacation even more exquisite and memorable. We met an island of strangers and left with an island of friends that we will miss incredibly.”

We were provided detailed information on everything including travel and packing recommendations, visas and customs, destinations, guides, and animals and scenery at various times of the year so we could plan accordingly.
