“Only place on the trip that we weren't particularly happy with. Facilities were fabulous but some of the reception staff left a lot to be desired. On check-in the girl mentioned a number of times that it had been a long day....not quite what you're hoping to hear when you're on your honeymoon. Also, versy strangely they tried to charge us for tea and coffee at breakfast, explaining that although breakfast is included, there is a charge for "luxury items". I quickly pointed out that in 2015 a plain Americano is not a luxury item. Again, on check out there was some attitude from the same girl that had checked us in. it should be noted however, that when I complained about the charge at breakfast, the manager on duty, Johan, was very professional and understanding. Trying to milk little charges like this just seemed to lack a little class and soured the experience somewhat. It is the only place on the trip which I wouldn't recommend to friends. It doesn't take much to create a bad impression and once you do, it's very hard to reverse things.”

We will definitely return to Hermanus and when we do we know where we'll be staying! Food was also excellent and our room was unbelievable.”

“Shamwari was great, we really enjoyed it. Anna got to enjoy her first safari experience. Staff were lovely, the game reserve is extremely impressive and we really enjoyed it. Communal dining isn't necessarily ideal on honeymoon but I know from being on safari so many times that it's just part and parcel of the process.”
