Honeymoon to Seychelles & South Africa
Mark Twinning & Jaime Smith, 26th September 2016We had an excellent time. All of the transfer arrangements worked smoothly and we stayed in some fantastic properties. The welcome we had in each place was great with lots of surprises too. We saw everything we wanted to see and did everything we wanted to do and we have a wealth of memories to cherish.

South Africa
“The people were exceptionally friendly. Hermanus and Cape Town are very pretty with lots to do. We saw whales, dolphins and seals in Hermanus then walked up Table Mountain, visited Kirstenbosch gardens, had a day at Cape Point and then visited Robben island. The wildlife on safari was also excellent. The food and drink were superb. I would have no hesitation in recommending South Africa as a value for money destination for a holiday.”
Seychelles
“The islands offer fantastic beaches and clear seas. We spent a lot of time snorkelling but also took some time to explore inland. The Morne Seychellois national park on Mahe and the Vallee de Mai on Praslin offered something different and made sure that Jaime and I, who normally have action filled holidays, did not get bored. We did a snorkelling trip around Felicite, Ile Cocos and Grand Soeur and also had a day on La Digue. The feel on Mahe and Praslin are quite different with Praslin being more laid back but we still found secluded spots on Mahe such as Anse Major. They are all beautiful islands.
The one thing that I would say about the Seychelles is that whilst we knew that our general expenses would be high, they were even higher than we were anticipating. The food we had was always tasty and well prepared but was overpriced. Clearly we didn't let this worry us too much with being on honeymoon but whereas in South Africa we felt that the price of everything matched the quality, it did feel that the prices were set in the Seychelles just because it was the Seychelles and not necessarily due to the quality.”

Birkenhead House
“Our welcome here was tremendous. The food was excellent and the accommodation superb. We wanted to use this hotel to rest after the travel and our wedding and it was perfect for that purpose. We were right on the coastal path for looking at the whales. There is nothing about this hotel which I would change - it was superb.”
Taj Cape Town
“Another excellent welcome. The room was very spacious and well located for walking around some of Cape Town's sights. The shuttle to the V&A waterfront was very useful for dinner in the evening. This hotel provided an ideal base for Cape Town.”
Dulini River Lodge
“We loved everything about the River Lodge. Our room was spacious and well equipped. All the staff were very friendly and the rangers/trackers knowledgeable. We saw everything we wanted to see at least once. Of the four days we were there we saw the big 5 on two of the days and 4 of the big 5 on the other two days (and this was only because we were looking for other animals). The food and drink were again very good. I would definitely recommend this lodge to anyone thinking of a safari.”
STORY Seychelles
“As is well known, first impressions count and our first night at this resort was noisy. We were in room 34 and could hear the music from the Cuban band at one of the restaurants till around 11.30pm. We were thinking of asking to change room but decided against it and fortunately for our remaining 3 nights there was no further noise disturbance.
The restaurants were all very nice. The biggest asset of this hotel is the access directly on to Beau Vallon beach which had some good snorkelling straight from the beach. The hotel was also well located for buses into Victoria and also for the walk to Anse Major (takes around 90 mins from the hotel and is hard work with an excellent reward at the end!). The view from the swimming pool is amazing.
I would recommend this hotel but have given it a lower score as all the other hotels were perfect and this wasn't.”
Raffles Praslin Seychelles
“Our villa was fantastic and all the staff were helpful. The beach is quite small but picturesque and there is snorkelling off the beach. Whilst the snorkelling environment isn't the prettiest that we encountered during our stay in the Seychelles there were lots of fish and we saw a sea turtle which made my wife very happy! The food was nice. We wanted to finish our honeymoon in a premium hotel and this definitely fitted the bill.”
