The best holiday we have ever had - an unforgettable once in a lifetime trip.
Franschhoek - a beautiful place. The breakfast at the hotel was delicious (particularly the specials), the free shuttle to and from the wine farms was extremely convenient being located slightly outside the town. This was also a good option considering we were only there for 2 days (rather than the wine tram) as it meant we could select the farms we wanted to visit specifically. Would highly recommend La Petite Colombe restaurant.
Cape Town - the hotel was great although not quiet our style. Quite modern and minimal. Something a little more "African" could have been better. That said, Emmy was lovely and provided helpful tips and good recommendations. We ate in some great restaurants (The Pot Luck Club was spectacular). We also enjoyed going up Table Mountain. It was easy enough to get around using Uber.
Safari - absolutely stunning. We saw all of the wildlife we had wanted to see and more. This was our favourite part our stay in South Africa. The people were so friendly and kind and nothing was too much trouble. The room was beautiful. We had the most wonderful massages and relaxed by the pool next to the water hole in between game drives. The guide and tracker were fantastic. When we asked for the gratuity guidelines, they were slightly different to the ones provided by Malhatini so I would suggest checking them to make sure they are up to date.
Benguerra is a paradise island. The hotel was wonderful - we couldn't ask for anything more. It felt very exclusive with so few people although I do worry with the opening of a new hotel if it will feel that way in the future. They obviously have a bit of a problem with locals not having anywhere to put their rubbish so there is some on the beach. The hotels make an effort to clean this up but there is a bit more they can do to make the beach even cleaner. The day trips and activities we did were great (although they were expensive). We did horse riding and snorkeling/picnic/island hop. The snorkeling on the two mile reef is absolutely wonderful - best snorkeling we have ever done.
Beautiful hotel - very spacious and clean room. Nice touches with the turn down service and delicious chocolates in the room. Beautiful views from the room over the winelands. As mentioned above, breakfast was delicious and it was great that you could sit outside on the balcony in the sun. The reception staff organized a tour of Babylonstoren Gardens as well as a car transfer there and back (including stops at other wine farms).
Lovely hotel with great breakfast. Staff were really friendly and helpful and made good recommendations. Only thing I felt was slightly odd was that our room was right above/off the reception.
A very special place we felt very lucky to be able to visit. The room was absolutely beautiful and the bathroom was stunning - you felt like you were in the bush both inside and in the outdoor shower. Ngala they shouldn't change anything - it was a faultless trip. We would go back in a heartbeat. The people were wonderful - our guide and tracker were fantastic and managed to show us everything we had wanted to see (and more!) We loved the early morning hot chocolate and Amarula as well as the sundowners. A very special experience. We loved having dinner in a different location each night and enjoyed the night when the kitchen and housekeeping staff sang/danced for guests.
Benguerra was absolutely stunning and we liked the fact the hotel had a bare-foot luxury feel but was low-key at the same time. We thoroughly enjoyed the school visit, dhow trip and visit from the school children to sing and dance for the Azura guests. It really sets the scene on island life. It is a very special place which is perfect for total relaxation. As mentioned above, the activities are quite pricey and there is an expectation to tip the staff on top of that. We enjoyed the riding and the snorkel/island hop trip.
Great from start to finish. Can't fault Stuart's work.
