Overall Impressions

The accommodations were quite lovely and all the staff were just delightful. The tempo of the trip was spot on and the advice of days in certain locations was perfect!

Countries Visited

South Africa

People were just lovely, the landscape (and varied landscapes) breathtaking. The political situation is interesting - we had very captivating, meaningful, and candid conversations with locals that are treasured. The food and wine - phenomenal!

Everyone was very friendly, we enjoyed the local fare and the sites. The staff at Victoria Falls hotel were all very pleasant. We are aware of the economic situation ongoing in the country and were not surprised by the long lines for gas. We didn't have much additional interaction with the locals, aside from driving through the countryside. Our dinner cruise was fantastic!

Accommodation Visited

The Clarendon Fresnaye

Great room, amazing staff who were friendly, accommodating, personable, and passionate. The food and tea time were lovely; location was very convenient and worked great for our needs.

Hermanus Guest House

Location, view, staff, and breakfast were superb! The accommodation and service, including local suggestions were just lovely. We really loved our stay in Hermanus - especially the local market, seeing whales off our balcony, the nature hikes, and local fare!!

The Last Word Franschhoek

Off the charts! The perfect location and staff - Conrad and team were brilliant and the attention to detail keen. Their friendliness (prior and during) the trip unmatched - everyday they ensured we were able to do just as we wished - be it wine tram, local market exploring, or a fabulous culinary experience - their suggestions were appreciated and thoughtful.

The Victoria Falls Hotel

The hotel was appointed well and location was great. The path the falls was closed, but we took to the roadway which worked out ok. The shower was unbelievable!! We had a small check in issue where they didn't have a room for us (and had my name wrong) which delayed our activities. We also came back to our room after the Botswana trip to find our room not locked and ajar. Nothing appeared to be disturbed, but the oversight of staff to leave the door open was slightly disconcerting.

Ngala Safari Lodge

5/5 is not enough, we loved everything about this place! The attention to detail, the care of the staff, the personal engagement, and compassion were readily noticed. Everyone who helped us from Amy, Alain, Clement, Norman, and the kitchen staff were appreciated and remembered. Our safari guide and tracker - just wonderful. Fanny and Lyle did everything to ensure a memorable trip with the rest of the staff and will live in the stories we tell Stateside (and I am a storyteller!). A remarkable and memorable holiday.

Staff Review

Stuart was responsive, knowledgeable, and friendly. He did a great job influencing us with his knowledge and experience to steer us in the right direction - specifically in the wine area - to ensure we weren't shorting ourselves on experiences. When we added additional activities along the way, Stuart was prompt in organizing arrangements and vendors for us. Stuart MADE our trip and we are appreciative for him.
