Overall Impressions

Hi Nikki. Everything ran very smoothly and we had a brilliant holiday. 10 days was not nearly enough and only allowed us to scratch the surface. We will definitely be going back to South Africa in the future. The highlight of the trip was the safari. It was absolutely stunning getting so close to wild animals. The staff at the game reserve were brilliant as was the food and service. The ranger, Graeme, was first class. His knowledge of the wildlife really added to the experience.

Accommodation Visited

Cape Riviera Guesthouse 5

Lisa and the staff were very helpful and the food and accomodation were excellent. The location was very handy for Table Mountain and was close to some very nice restaurants. We felt very safe walking in this area.

Spier Hotel 5

Spier was fantastic. The restaurant in the hotel was very nice and the wine was excellent.Staff were friendly and the level of service was hard to beat.

Hideaway Guest House 4

As we left Stellenbosh quite late in the afternoon it was almost 10.30pm before we arrived at the Hideaway Guesthouse. It was difficult to find and the owners clearly expected us much earlier. Having said that Coleen was very helpful in pointing out things of interest in the area and the food was very good.It was about a 15 minute walk to the waterfront area from the guesthouse. Overall it was a good experience.

Amakhala Reed Valley Inn 5

This was without doubt the highlight of the trip. I would strongly recommend this to any travellers you have who are interested in a Safari. Service, food, guiding etc were absoulutely brilliant.

Staff Review 5

Service was excellent. One suggestion would be to put a note in the arrangements that guests who go to Amakhala really need to check in by 1.00pm. They serve lunch at 2.00pm and the game drive leaves at 3.00pm. We didn't get there to 2.15pm so it was a bit of a rush to catch the 3.00pm game drive.
