Absolutely fantastic. Everyone we encountered was very friendly and happy to help. We felt safe and well looked after. Both countries had a combination of beauty and the unavoidable poverty.
We loved the panorama tour. We had a nice experience at Elephant Whispers. The full day experience proved to be unnecessary but very much enjoyed our time their. The staff at Elephant Whispers was extremely helpful as I had been bitten by a spider at the end of safari and my arm was beginning to get infected. They had a medic come look at it right away. He called the local pharmacist in Hazyview and had antibiotics lined up for me immediately. They treated us so well and we were very thankful for their help.
Our experience in Mozambique was wonderful. We loved getting to know the staff at our lodge and taking tours of local villages, Santa Maria and Inhaca Island. Everyone was very kind. The people seemed happy and upbeat despite their troubled past.
We thought it was fine. The room wasn't fancy but it was very comfortable. The lobby/hotel was clean, neat and nicely decorated. The outdoor patio area with pool was very nice.
Tip--We decided to have to dinner at Quill, a nicer restaurant at a different hotel. We were able to enjoy a higher end dinner and cut costs by staying the City Lodge!
Fantastic spot! So quiet at relaxing. The grounds were beautiful! We loved all of the outdoor patio space. The dining room for breakfast and dinner was so warm and cozy. We arrived very early in the morning from the airport. Our room wasn't quite ready when we arrived but we believe they upgraded us to a suite that was available. The room was enormous with a separate sitting room and large terrace. We loved Oliver's so much we didn't want to leave the next day. We're happy we got to the spend the full day there to relax after 24 hours of travel. We had wonderful massages and facials at the spa.
We loved everything about Ngala! Everything was very well kept and the service was beyond our expectations. There was thoughtfulness in everything they did. They paired us up with fellow travelers of the same age and safari experience (it was the first time for all of us.) The food was fantastic and every one of the staff members was kind, welcoming, and friendly.
Very nice location. We loved our river chalet with the deck overlooking the river and Elephant Whispers. The room itself was average. No phones in the room. Cleanliness was average but we had no problem staying there with Elephant Whispers being next door. Most of the staff were very friendly and kind. The Shangaan dinner experience was okay. Food wasn't great but the dancing and entertainment was worth it! It was so cool seeing the hippos come out of the water at night! We were so fascinated by that. The pool area is very, very nice!
What a gem. Great location situated between the bay and ocean. PHENOMENAL view atop the dunes. We loved all of the staff. Our deep sea fishing experience was amazing. We caught tuna and a huge black marlin. MBL has so many wonderful activities that we really, really enjoyed. We also enjoyed the MANY spots to relax through out the lodge. We were very lucky that the lodge wasn't at full capacity. It was a bit noisy the last night as a family with 3 small children arrived.
Caroline was absolutely fantastic! She listened to everything that we wanted and made it happen. She was so detail-oriented and made all the logistics work out perfectly. We felt very safe with the many road transfers we had throughout South Africa and crossing the border in to Mozambique. 100% recommend Caroline & Mahlatini. It was just fabulous letting someone else take care of all the details so we could fully relax and enjoy our honeymoon. I have always planned my international trips and it was just so wonderful to let go and fully trust someone else to take care of everything. Our entire through South Africa and Mozambique was magical, life-changing experience. I will cherish all the people we met and our African memories forever.
