For us the highlight was definitely South Africa - the game reserve, garden route and Cape Town.
We were very disappointed with the Heritage Awali. We feel that this hotel is not a five star hotel. One of the reasons we chose this hotel was because of the choice of dining but in reality we were unable to book the majority of the restaurants during our stay. They were all fully booked for at least up to 8 days. This meant we had to dine in Le Balafon where I did not like the variety or quality of the food. The birds are also a big problem in this restaurant and watching them at breakfast dipping their beaks into the fruit was very of putting not to mention a health hazard. Also part of our package was a t-shirt/pareo to be in our room for us. We asked about this on three different occasions and also got the rep to enquire but with no luck. The hotel is also very much in the middle of nowhere so we were stuck there and couldn't take a walk to try and find a nice restaurant. I would definitely book a hotel in a more built up area/within walking distance to a town in the future especially if the dining options as in the Heritage are so poor. All in all we were greatly disappointed with this hotel.
A fantastic experience although we would have benefited from being advised as to just how cold it would be and how physically demanding this part of our trip would be.
Periwinkle Lodge was the highlight of our trip - a beautiful place - better than the Heritage even though it was only B and B. We were lucky to watch whales and dolphins from the balcony.
Our room in Lavender Manor was very cold so much so that we had to go and buy a hot water bottle.
Our room here was quite cold and we spoke to reception about it three times but with no luck. Reception however was helpful when booking trips and restaurants.

Good service provided although I was advised that we would be able to book restaurants in the hotel on arrival and this wasn't the case as detailed below. Also all the places we stayed in in South Africa were disappointed that they had not been informed by Mahlatini that we were on honeymoon. I had asked that they would be informed but was told it probably wouldn't make much difference as they get lots of honeymooners.
